Sculpture Walk’s education program is crucial for ensuring its meaningful and lasting impact on the community. Sculptures will be installed in front of participating area schools and artists will lead workshops and master classes for students and faculty. Educational Outreach will include written curriculum packages for teachers that focus on the creation of the artwork, from inspiration to fabrication, and its connection to other works from art history. Free lectures and tours will be conducted by artists and docents along the levee walk and other environments easily accessible to families. Sculpture Walk will include a smart phone app that locates and discusses each piece. This app will also be linked to real time ferry hours so as to connect all people to the art. Acknowledging the city’s notorious digital divide and lack of technological resources for many of its citizens, Sculpture Walk will also develop a pamphlet with a map to identify the artists and sculpture in the exhibit.
